Resumen del Editor

Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch is up to his neck in a case that has transfixed all of celebrity-mad Los Angeles: a movie director is charged with murdering an actress during sex, and then staging her death to make it look like a suicide. Bosch is both the arresting officer and the star witness in a trial that has brought the Hollywood media pack out in full-throated frenzy.

Meanwhile, Terry McCaleb is enjoying an idyllic retirement on Catalina Island when a visit from an old colleague brings his former world rushing back. It's a murder, the unreadable kind of murder he specialized in solving back in his FBI days. The investigation has stalled, and the sheriff's office is asking McCaleb to take a quick look at the murder book to see if he turns up something they've missed.

McCaleb's first reading of the crime scene leads him to look for a methodical killer with a taste for rituals and revenge. As his quick look accelerates into a full-sprint investigation, the two crimes - his murdered loner and Bosch's movie director - begin to overlap strangely. With one unsettling revelation after another, they merge, becoming one impossible, terrifying case, involving almost inconceivable calculation. McCaleb believes he has unmasked the most frightening killer ever to cross his sights. But his investigation tangles with Bosch's lines, and the two men find themselves at odds in the most dangerous investigation of their lives.

Don't miss Detective Harry Bosch on the case in these Michael Connelly crime fiction novels.

A Darkness More Than Night

As an avid "Bosh" fan, I found this novel unique as it put the usual hero in a different light. A few wild and tricky twists keep your attention and the narration is excellent. You can "see" Bosh on the stand, you can "see" McCaleb on his boat. And all TOO vividly can you "see" the murderer in the act. Quite good.

Not a typical Bosch story, but good

I really enjoyed it. However, this is because I love art history, Michael Connelly, and the Harry Bosch series. For first timers, I have to warn you that this was not my favorite Harry Bosch book, and do not judge the authur or the character by this book. That said, I do recommend it, and though not as action packed as his others, it is a good listen.

By far my least favorite Bosch book

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Had I known that Bosch would basically be the 2nd in command throughout the whole book I would have used my credits on another book. I loved all the other Bosch books, but this was just bland and average.

Would you recommend A Darkness More than Night: Harry Bosch Series, Book 7 to your friends? Why or why not?

No! If you are a big Bosch fan then skip straight to City of Bones. You won't miss anything and there isn't anything that drags on from Book 7 to 8.

Would you be willing to try another one of Richard M. Davidson’s performances?

Helllllll NO!!!!!!!!!! I think his voice may be a big reason I disliked this book so much. Did Dick Hill just give up after the first 5????

Did A Darkness More than Night: Harry Bosch Series, Book 7 inspire you to do anything?

Immediately download City of Bones

Any additional comments?

As someone who has listened to each of the first 9 Bosch books because I loved the Bosch TV series so much I am kind of confused why even bother consider this a "Bosch Novel" when the first half he was barely in it. I was so confused how the book basically starts off with them painting the cop we love as a suspect before Bosch's first long appearance. I realized after starting City of Bones that Dick Hill wasn't even the narrator for the Angels Flight one and am kind of confused why a book series that is probably one of the most known cop/investigation series in the nation would just change the narrator after 5 amazingly portrayed books.

This book was just boring and even when it was suppose to be intense it came off as bland because of the narration.

I had to skip this book in the series

I had to skip this book in the series due to the narrator. He was just terrible. I normally hate skipping a book in a series but I couldn't make it past chapter 11.

Good story

Great story but narration makes it a tough listen at points. Most characters, including Bosch, other than Terry McCaleb sound like angry over the top 40"s movie gangsters. Luckily this is the only book Mr. Davidson narrates.

Not so much a Harry Bosch novel

The story is pretty good, but the story is about half Bosch. It is one of those splits and it was ok but not the typical Bosch book. The quality of the audio recording is pretty bad but you can get used to it after a while.

Not really a Bosch book

it's a Terry Mccaleb book with a Bosch cameo. I'd call it just okay. Not the best Connelly book I've read. not the worst

story is good, but narrator is not my favorite. Connelly writes a good cop story.

As always, a Harry Bosch novel is a perfect novel

I loved this story, but struggled at times with the narrator. I've been hitting these books back to back and younget used to one voice, so when it changes; it can be a bit startling as you've come to enjoy the Harry Bosch character depicted in another way.
