Fight, survive, adapt, and rely only on yourself. That is Derek’s creed and what's got him through the System Integration on Earth. Everything changed when the System came. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. None of this mattered much to Derek, aside from making living a little more perilous.

Story
The Galactic Consensus arrived on ships as large as skyscrapers, crafted from glittering alloys that no human scientist could even begin to understand. They followed the trail of century-old television transmissions to welcome us into the galactic community...only to recoil in horror at what they found. They concluded that humans were unfit to be trusted with the advanced technologies that member-states of the Consensus freely traded with each other.

Story
The great world tree, Yggdrasil, needed a group that could work together to stop a threat that could end reality. Yggdrasil summoned a team of five champions, into a world straight out of fantasy, and remade them into something more. Unfortunately, Virgil was granted almost no skills, and his body was shifted into a reviled Dark Elf. Now, hated by the locals and of little use to the others that can already heal themselves, Virgil was cast aside. Abandoned and alone, Virgil will take on the threat to this world....No matter what ally gets in his way.

Maximo Strident, war veteran and member of local law enforcement, never wanted to enter the dungeon. With promises of wealth beyond his imagination, his squad mates managed to convince him. Max isn’t a Knight, so he has no magical equipment or spells that could help him against monsters. What he does have, however, are the sword forms he learnt at the Blade Academy. These forms are formidable martial arts that make him the match of Level 0 monsters. But Level 99 monsters? He doesn’t stand a chance.

Story
Grant Leap is an orphaned, mortal farmhand in a world where cultivation methods and Weapons of Power are jealously guarded and only passed down among family. He’s not content with his lot; as a Januarian, someone living in District January, he should be living the good life just like everyone else. Food, parties, food, entertainment, and food are the minimum requirement. As an orphan, specifically a reviled Leap, there’s not even a chance of being treated as a human.

Publisher's summary
Seek out new life and civilizations. Kill them for their mana. Aliens are blown away by science.
Daniel Thrush is the only known human with the ability to learn the magic which runs the various empires of the universe. Earth is in the crosshairs of the Tellask Empire, a race that discovered magic millennia before humanity even mastered fire.
All known aliens focus on the arcane. Upon learning of magic, their technological progress all but halted as great voidships spread their colonies across the galaxy. For all of Earth's military might, their only hope is to incorporate the alien's magic into technology, to use the enemy's own tools to fight them.
The government is dead-set on transforming magic into a standard-issue weapon. That means finding monsters and harvesting their mana, usually after sticking them with a sword. Despite his better judgement, and the world on his shoulders, Daniel leaves Earth behind to bring them back a future.

Story
The job was simple: decapitate the zombie, get paid, get out. Warlock Marcus Shifter followed the plan perfectly. The corpse, however, did not. Now there's a body on the loose, accusations of illegal necromancy are flying, and the answers are waiting in the perilous alleys between the mortal and paranormal worlds. They're no place for someone who mostly gave up magic after a childhood accident. And given his tendency to shoot off his mouth and his Glock, Marcus is having a hell of a time digging up more than just bodies. When an apocalypse-minded megalomaniac threatens Marcus's family, things get personal.

Off to Twilight
Dan is working for the military as a tech and his military unit is called for an actual alien invasion. After fruitless study, Dan takes a wild risk and gains the ability to use magic. After training with a private institute, he is teleported to an alien world to gain the ability to teach other humans. If he can survive long enough to learn how.
The concept of this story was very interesting. The idea that magic had to be unlocked and that is why Earth had no magic. Just a heads up, this book deals heavily with addiction.

Really good story
I enjoyed the apocalypse coming at a slow steady rate and one man’s fall into another world threw one bad choice after another. The system he uses is slow and clumsy the magic even more so, everything is just right for a normal guy trying to make things he doesn’t really comprehend work for him. I felt the part near the end was ruff but a halfway descent way for him to escape what was definitely going to be in definite incarceration.

Strong start
The first chapter or two was super dope but the rest of the story was just well written.
Didn't knock it out of the park but laid a strong foundation to this universe.
I will be back for the next one

New take on litrpg
*spoiler alert*
this was a great new take on the litrpg. from aliens elves landing on earth and being killed by modern tec and the government struggling to figure out how it worked. To ranking through aborbing the mana from the creature it looked. loved the combination of scif and fantasy giving the book an almost epic feel. the mc was a regular person with a weak mentality that was interesting to watch grow and fell into the same ruts but in a fantasy setting. watching him progress through that was great and can't wait to see where that goes. him getting addicted to mana was also a great way to introduced and common theme in a new way something that actually has bad repucassion. loved the combination of nano tec to world allowing it to be the one that helped manage mana and that magic was actually really hard to uses. overall this was amazing to read.

A fresh perspective on litrpg
I loved the pseudo-scientific blend of magic and desperation. the mc was very human and still noble in his owned way.

Pseudo Isekai Apocalypse
First off, I know a lot of people may not like the MC. He's pretty much a pushover, especially for women due to past abuse and whatnot. He gains magical powers, but it doesn't change his underlying nature. I love watching him come to grips with that part of himself and start to try to improve/grow along with the magical and physical growth he is experiencing. I think there's a lot of complicated situations in this book, and I like how the resolutions end up landing in a sort-of grey area. I love how absolutely messed up so many people are in this book and how the MC just thinks it's normal because that's been his life so far, and how even the main person trying to "help" him is really just as bad as all the rest.
I just finished the second book before writing this review, and the MC goes through even more growth and change in the second book. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and I listed to both books pretty much straight through when they came out. Overall, I think this author handles having a non power-fantasy MC really well without making him whiney, but more thinking about his situation, getting angry about it, acknowledging how he is and his past, and trying to grow through it.
I love how flawed and internally consistent the the MC is, and I found the overall story to be fun, exciting, and quite funny at times (in a ridiculous dark humor sort of way). This series definitely makes my top 10% category.

next book please!
this was a surprising good book and the people who rated it badly only listed to the first hour or less of the book and even then must of been ready to discredit the first thing they read! this one was a great listen and the reader was Great! I don't like giving away spoilers, sorry! I can't wait to see how the story continues!!!
