Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Story
With its brilliant and brutal portrayal of the Corleone family, The Godfather burned its way into our national consciousness. This unforgettable saga of crime and corruption, passion and loyalty continues to stand the test of time, as the definitive novel of the Mafia underworld. A #1 New York Times bestseller in 1969, Mario Puzo's epic was turned into the incomparable film of the same name, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. It is the original classic that has been often imitated, but never matched.

Story
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Publisher's summary
His very name inspires awe, horror, and, for some of the greatest masters of contemporary science fiction, a strong affection. Find out why in this special collector's edition of the original 1932 novelization of Wallace and Cooper's movie that includes commentary by masters of science fiction Ray Bradbury, Ray Harryhausen, Orson Scott Card, Harlan Ellison, Larry Niven, Catherine Asaro, Jack Williamson, and Marc Zicree.
Originally written by Edgar Wallace and Merian C. Cooper, King Kong was novelized by Delos W. Lovelace.
Critic reviews
"Filmed 70 years ago in stark black and white, King Kong still holds the force of its raw simplicity. More myth than monster, Kong suffers the fate of the classic tragic hero, destroyed by his own nobility. High-tech civilization overwhelms his primitive power. Beauty kills the beast." In this story, an alien race known as the "Throgs" attacks a Terran survey camp without warning. "Eye-searing lances of energy lashed back and forth across the base with methodical accuracy, and a single cowering witness, flattened on a ledge in the heights above, knew that when the last of those yellow-red bolts fell, nothing human would be left alive down there."

Story
The fiction world of today needs a “Saint” more than it ever did. For years now that scene has been dominated by the “anti-heroes"—those grim gray operators in a sunless sub-culture where global issues are worked out with totally unemotional pragmatism, those hapless uninspired puppets manipulated and expended by ruthlessly dedicated little brothers of Big Brother. It made morbidly fascinating narrative, but it never gave anyone a lift until it climaxed in the hyper-gadgeted parodies of 007 extravaganzas.

Story
Jack London worshiped strong and virtuous heroes, and his stories give great weight to the inevitable triumph of good over evil. His telling of the adventures of Humphrey van Weydon in The Sea Wolf is in keeping with this theme of moral man. His powerful and gripping saga of van Weydon's capture by a seal-hunting ship and the ensuing tangles with its dreaded captain, Wolf Larsen, makes this a classic American tale of peril and victory.

To Be Honest
To be honest the story is alot simpler than I remembered. The love story between the two humans is rushed and those characters are all mediocre at best. Once Kong arrives though it's amazing. It's like a whole another book breaks into this Love Boat story and I loved it!!

Great Book, especially for a movie fan
This book was written from the original screen play, and in some parts word for word. Very entertaining for any fan of the original movie. The best part is the commentaries at the end by Harryhausen, Ray Bradbury and others...priceless. A number of modern movie makers could take a lesson here!

Nostalgic for the Film
Enjoyable rendition of the classic movie. Mostly a verbal description of the movie itself. It just made me wish I was watching the movie.
A few sequences that differ from the film were interesting. Narration made it an enjoyable listen, giving characters a unique voice.
Some of the narrative seemed forced to give it the sound of a novel, which having seen the movie, makes it a little awkward.
Overall, if you liked the film or loved it, as I do, it's worth a listen. However, it's an impossible task capture the raw power of the film, "King Kong".

A good adventure book.
I’ve been a King Kong fan my whole life. Not gonna lie, I watched the movies before I gave this book listen. As the story went on, I grew more appreciation for the 1933 and 2005 movies. They portrayed it so accurately. However, my one criticism is that the narrators voice was so scratchy, I found myself constantly clearing my OWN throat. With that said, it wasn’t enough to get me to walk away from it. I still think King Kong is a great adventure story.
