Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

In simpler terms, he can spot cultural shifts and trends before they happen. The Devil's Dictionary finds Lion Zorn enmeshed with a strange subculture: polyamorous crypto-currency fiends with a tendency toward eco-terrorism. CrossFit trainer Ben Bergeron has helped build the world's fittest athletes, but he's not like other coaches. He believes that greatness is not for the elite few; that winning is a result, not a goal; and that character, not talent, is what makes a true champion. His powerful philosophy can help anyone excel at all aspects of life. Using the dramatic competition between the top contenders at the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games® as a background, Ben explores the step-by-step process of achieving excellence and the unique set of positive character traits necessary for leveling up to world-class. The mindset and methodology that have produced some of the greatest athletes in the world's most grueling sport can work equally well for golfers, lawyers, artists, entrepreneurs - anyone who's willing to commit totally to becoming better than the best.

East meets West, and spirituality meets science, as Dave brings together Eastern philosophies with modern science.

Read the actual book
I bought this book after listening to a podcast and was excited to hear the ideas that Steven had for accessing flow in everyday life. However the reader of this book doesn’t portray much enthusiasm. I had a really hard time connecting with the message in some places along the way. I have ordered myself a physical copy and look forward the reading it myself.

Simply packed with usefulness
Most of us want to progress into something, whatever it may be, it is sometimes hard to find the time/drive/etc to do the work we know is necessary for it. This book not only explains why that is so but is packed with useful resources, information that I can confirm pushed me (at least) to be more driven and more consistent into my personal development. Don't expect a "recipe" here but you will find an understanding of why some "recipes" might not work for you and how you can make your own, how you can control your drive and flow and seemingly turn "no time" into useful optimal time without it being a disruptive influence in your life.
