Publisher's summary

A Reese's Book Club Pick

Nina de Gramont's The Christie Affair is a stunning new novel that reimagines the unexplained eleven-day disappearance of Agatha Christie that captivated the world.

Every story has its secrets.
Every mystery has its motives.

“A long time ago, in another country, I nearly killed a woman. It’s a particular feeling, the urge to murder. It takes over your body so completely, it’s like a divine force, grabbing hold of your will, your limbs, your psyche. There’s a joy to it. In retrospect, it’s frightening, but I daresay in the moment it feels sweet. The way justice feels sweet.”

The greatest mystery wasn’t Agatha Christie’s disappearance in those eleven infamous days, it’s what she discovered.

London, 1925: In a world of townhomes and tennis matches, socialites and shooting parties, Miss Nan O’Dea became Archie Christie’s mistress, luring him away from his devoted and well-known wife, Agatha Christie.

The question is, why? Why destroy another woman’s marriage, why hatch a plot years in the making, and why murder? How was Nan O’Dea so intricately tied to those eleven mysterious days that Agatha Christie went missing?

A beguiling novel of star-crossed lovers, heartbreak, revenge, and murder—and a brilliant re-imagination of one of the most talked-about unsolved mysteries of the twentieth century

And close this book on a happy ending

This book is a fictionalized account of Agatha Christie's two week disappearance in 1926. It reads like a detective novel, with lots of romance and too many coincidences to mention. Clever and fast paced and beautifully read. Lovely addition to your Valentine month celebration.

Found it Boring

Slow developing. I am a few hours in and there is a lot of back story given, and although I am sure it goes somewhere I am too bored listening to find out. Might look to finish it if I have the time, but right now I have no motivation to finish this story and am going to start something else.

And it all comes together in the end!

Loved the characters and all their side stories. Kept my interest throughout. Some good twists you may or may not see coming.

Confusing

Great listen but I hard trouble following the dialogue between the two main characters because there wasn’t any inflection/tone change.

The Christie Affair was excellent

This was an excellent story. Better than excellent narrator! I highly recommend the audible version.

Excellent

What a page-turner, or since it was audio, what a mind-bender. So complex and multi-layered. Such fascinating characters and enough plot twists to be satisfying and hard to put down. I had to replay many minutes to go back and be sure I had not missed important details. And the narrator was perfect.

Hooked from the get go! Narration 10/10!

What an interesting story, it really pulls you in and keeps you there. I was disappointed at how it all ends up but loved the ride. The narrator did amazing, very well done!
