The Spanish House is a mixture of designs, Georgian, Gothic and Moorish, as if whoever started it had simply got bored. It has long been known as an architectural folly to locals, and is now nearly derelict to boot. When its reclusive owner dies intestate, the Spanish House is left to his city-dwelling niece. For Isabel, recently widowed, the house is a potential lifeline - the only hope she has of providing for her two children without having to sell her most treasured possession.

Publisher's summary
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Giver of Stars, a novel about a lost girl and her horse, the enduring strength of friendship, and how even the smallest choices can change everything.
When Sarah's grandfather gives her a beautiful horse named Boo - hoping that one day she'll follow in his footsteps to join an elite French riding school, away from their gritty London neighborhood - she quietly trains in the city's parks and alleys. But then her grandfather falls ill, and Sarah must juggle horsemanship with school and hospital visits.
Natasha, a young lawyer, is reeling after her failed marriage: Her professional judgment is being questioned, her new boyfriend is a letdown, and she's forced to share her house with her charismatic ex-husband. Yet when the willful 14-year-old Sarah lands in her path, Natasha decides to take the girl under her wing.
But Sarah is keeping a secret - a secret that will change the lives of everyone involved forever.
Critic reviews
“There's something in it everyone will love... The Horse Dancer is a heartfelt, gut-wrenching, emotional novel filled with moments of joy, excitement, and plenty of tears. In her signature style, Moyes has woven a complicated story about unforgettable characters you'll contemplate long after you finish reading...a multi-generational story that will tug at heart strings and leave everyone reaching for the tissues, and for a hug. Trust me, this is the kind of book you'll want to share with the ones you love." (Bustle)
“Fans of Moyes (Paris for One and Other Stories, 2016, etc.) know what to expect from her books - big emotions, quirky characters, and a few tears - and this one delivers on all counts.” (Kirkus Reviews)
"With a touch of adventure, Moyes offers a lovely comment on the importance of discipline, love, and persistence in our relationships." (Booklist)

Sometimes heavy in detail but a great read
I loved this book. At times it seems the book contains details that need not be included, but it is worth plowing through. The end was predictable but it was still so enjoyable. I loved the book's exploration of family, relationships, and perseverance. I also appreciated how each character grows and changes through their trials. Highly recommend.

Not the best by JoJo Moyes, but still ok
Characters were good, narration good but storyline just dragged out to long. If ur a fan of the author it's worth a listen, if this is ur first JoJo book - try the others they are SO much better.

I was sad when this book was finished. I loved every minute of it. The storyline was refreshing and engaging. The performance was very entertaining as well.

Fairy Tale with a Happy Ending
This was a good story. It hints at some real life issues, but without real life endings. It would make a great Disney movie. It was a little predictable in areas, but it was still entertaining and lighthearted.

Lovely storytelling and engaging plot
Plot was meandering at first but really well done in the second half particularly. As a horse person I am pretty critical of equestrian stories and while this pushes the boundaries of what might be realistic, it wasn't so far off base that I couldn't really enjoy it. The characters were a good blend of making you both love them and want to strangle them. The audio performance was really lovely with the narrator's various tones and accents. Loved the ending.

The Horse Dancer
This book was well written, elicited so many emotions, took you on journeys of people’s lives, country sides I have never seen but felt like I was there. And I also could envision the horse and rider. Thank you for taking me on this journey.

WOW!
I really didn't expect the emotional roller-coaster that this story took me on. Beyond education of amazing horsemanship. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.
