Publisher's summary

Scorio thought victory was within his grasp.

He had bested the Final Gauntlet and overcome the treachery of Chancellor Praximar. But the Rascor Plains are full of peril, and his quest for truth has only just begun.

With his friends scattered and his reputation in tatters, Scorio must navigate a web of intrigue that stretches from the powerful House Hydra and the Fiery Shoals to the mysterious forces that govern the Plains. He will face foes, both human and inhuman, and confront the darkest secrets of his world.

Beware the fiends, for they hunger for your soul. Beware your allies, for they may break your heart. And beware Scorio, for he will stop at nothing to uncover the truth.

A purposeful slow half, changed to an amazing end.

I was very happy to experience book 2... well the second half. The first 10-15 hours are kinda of a slog to get through. but it's understandable as it closes & begins plot points for both the first and this book.

When thinking about it, I believe the first half matches our MC's personality well. Although, it does male the story feel slow, but once you hit a certain point, everything comes together and it is almost impossible to put this story down. It just cranks everything up to 10, and by the end everything is perfectly wrapped up in order to move further into hell without regretting looking back once.

Personally I find to be refreshing. Bastion has served it's purpose, and it's time for all us to experience the greater expanse of this interesting world.

Great book, Want More

'The Rascor Plains' takes us on an exciting adventure that's hard to put down. The story does a great job showing the hero's growth, which is refreshing and engaging. However, there could have been more insight into other characters by switching the point of view more often, especially during important events.

It's a bit disappointing that a big problem is left hanging, making us wait for the next book to see what happens. Though it's good for keeping interest, some resolution would have been satisfying.

The hope is that future books keep the hero’s current mindset and don’t take steps back in his growth. This book sets a strong foundation, and it would be a letdown if that depth is lost in the sequels.

The character development is well-done with just a bit of room for improvement. The narration is, as always, top-notch and adds a lot to the experience.

Overall, 'The Rascor Plains' is a great read with a few minor areas for improvement. The excitement for book 3 is already building, hoping for more of the good stuff seen in this one.

kind of a guilty pleasure

The worrying is iffy, the plot is predictable, even when it's not, the character development is it times juvenile, but it is an absolutely great story. I have not consumed literature more enjoyable since Cradle.

The beginning is a lil slow, BUT!!

Once it picks up, you understand better why th3 beginning is slow...at a certain point, I simply could not stop. My only regret is that it ended...and I have to wait forever for book 3. So so so good. I thought it ended excellently. Amazing series, I kinda wish I didn't know about until like.... book 5. I literally cannot give it better marks. Narration...is amazing too.. but it's Nick after all..the combo of the story and his narration is irresistible.

I got teary eyed towards the end there. The third book could not come sooner.
