Don’t fight to pain of a toxic relationship - get out!
I learned to be more aware of the emotional identify we all possess. To determine if it is right for me. Toxic relationships are all around us and reading this book helps me to pay attention to the behavior patterns of the ones I love. Great read, great info.

This book is a must!! It gives insight, understanding, and awareness to readers struggling, recovering, and healing from toxic relationships. The author does an amazing job at defining types of abusive behaviors and how to recognize common traits. Individuals may not realize the impact trauma has in keeping them trapped in cycles of abuse. Use this book as guide. As an LMFT I plan on recommending it to my clients.

Provides the framework, words, and strength to leave and heal
In the 15 years since leaving my ex, I have repeated time and again that I am thankful he was physically abusive. Although it lasted over three years, the physical is how I gave myself permission to leave, but the mental was far more harmful. I didn’t have the words, framework, or ability to identify the mental abuse I was entangled in.
This book provides that framework in clear and simple terms. It begins by helping victims clearly identify their toxic situation. Then helps you accept your role, and finally walks through the steps of healing.
I’ll be gifting this to friends I love and keeping it in my tool kit.
Even after 15 years, I still found useful tools for my own healing journey.

An amazing guide for self discovery!
This book has opened my heart and mind to both my toxic relationships and how I exude toxic traits. The layout of this book flows and creates a learning experience. Lisanne is well researched and the reflection sections at the end of each chapter are very powerful. Highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed the narrative format as a way to more relatably convey important principles/ideas on an important topic. Along with that, the exercises in the chapters facilitate practical application of and thought work relevant to the outlined recovery steps.
